Aesop Control: A dedicated spot treatment that you can apply directly to the spot or to a larger area of congestion, effective but also soothing on the skin. Contains Salicylic Acid to exfoliate and fight breakouts, Vitamin C brightens and contains antioxidant properties and Niacinamide has calming properties. *Dermal Therapy Acne Control Lotion: This is a great lotion for anyone with any sort of breakout whether it be one or two spots or a cluster of breakouts, it contains ingredients that help to balance the skins microbiome as well as ingredients like Hyaluronic Acid and Aloe Vera to hydrate and soothe. It's great to see products that are really effective but the same time keep the skin's natural barrier intact. This product will also help to control oil and also contains ingredients to help with any pigmentation left behind from spots. Kate Somerville Eradikate Daily Cleanser: Any routine should start with a good cleanser and in the case of fighting breakouts it's important to look for one that contains blemish-fighting ingredients. This cleanser from Kate Somerville contains a blend of Sulphur to get rid of any build-up and impurities in the skin, Honey and Oat also contain soothing properties. *Elemis Dynamic Resurfacing Facial Pads: When you have breakout-prone skin, In my opinion, I think it's really important to exfoliate regularly. Depending on how tolerant your skin is will determine how often you do it, if you are just starting out you may want to do it once or twice a week and then build up when tolerable. These pads from Elemis are great as each pad has the recommended dose of product and they can be easily swiped over your skin, avoiding the eye area, after cleansing and before your serums and or moisturiser. They contain a Tri-Enzyme Blend as well as one of my personal favourite skincare ingredients Lactic Acid which helps to refine skin tone and texture and will help with dark spots and any marks left behind from spots. *Editors note: Always wear an SPF on a daily basis when using exfoliators. *Dermalogica Circular Hydration Serum: Even though you have breakout-prone skin and even though you may have an oilier skin type you still need hydration, a great way to do this is by incorporating a serum like this one from Dermalogica that contains Hyaluronic Acid which works to draw moisture into the skin and a Postbiotic Blend that helps to balances the skin microbiome. This serum is not heavy or clogging on the skin and absorbs instantly allowing you to follow up with your moisturiser, as it works like a humectant it will actually help your moisturiser absorb better. If there is one thing I can honestly tell you from someone who has had breakout-prone skin for the last twenty years [Yes, twenty] is to make sure you are always keeping your skin hydrated. *Summer Fridays Cloud Dew Oil-Free Gel Cream: When you have an oilier skin type and or blemish-prone skin it can sound counterintuitive to use a moisturiser but in my opinion, it's a great option. As long as you find a moisturiser that is right for your skin type, by that I mean it's lightweight and potentially a gel or milk-based moisturiser that will hydrate your skin without clogging your pores. I really like this moisturiser from Summer Fridays as it practically feels like water on your skin, absorbs instantly and doesn't feel heavy on the skin. It contains Hyaluronic Acid, Amino Acids for antioxidant protection and Pineapple Enzymes gently exfoliate the skin, I like that this product hydrates whilst gently exfoliating as that, in turn, will help with breakouts and skin texture.
