First of all, can you give my readers a quick overview of your brand?

A different approach to fragrances, Melissa Allen Mood Essentials™ are a range of unisex natural fragrances designed to offer amazing fragrances to enjoy, but also designed to help you feel good, whether it by a boost of Joy, Calm, Focus or Confidence.

Our sophisticated Mood Essentials™ have been meticulously formulated with 100% natural essential oils, to target the right mood for both men and woman with feel good benefits in mind to add as part of their collection of perfumes, colognes and beauty regimes.

Infused with 100% natural essential oils, designed to make a person smell great and help them feel joy and support them, no matter what they do. Melissa Allen Mood Essentials™ combines my passion of fragrances and believing everyone has the right to feel good.

What is your career background?

I have a marketing and business and development background in construction/manufacturing, worlds apart from beauty......But I have always had a love of fragrances and a passion to develop my own.

Developing my own fragrance was a concept in my head for about 15 years before I launched Melissa Allen Mood Essentials and then 2 1⁄2 years ago I found my own confidence to launch my own brand of fragrances.

Over the 15 years, I self-taught myself about essential oils/fragrances and experimented by mixing my own blends.

I now work with a chemist who has worked all around the world with decades of expertise, which I was lucky enough that he loved my concept and agreed to work with me on my Melissa Allen Mood Essentials.

What was your inspiration to develop the brand?

My story starts in my teenage years when my parents divorced....and life had become ....well let’s say not that much fun....to block out the bad times I became a bit of a dreamer of all different things, but one was to develop my own fragrances. Fragrances were always something I loved and brought me joy.....And Joy and Fun were definitely things I wanted to bring back into my life....

In my early twenties, I saw Richard Branson on TV and was instantly inspired by his positivity, energy and him showing that anything is possible..which definitely started me thinking I could develop my own business.....

The next few years have seen me overcoming my own self-esteem issues and watching both men and woman experience everyday hurdles such as public speaking nerves, anxiety when flying, bullying, low self-esteem etc

All these experiences made me determined that one day I would develop my own fragrances that would have a purpose. With nothing but just with sheer determination, I launched Melissa Allen Mood Essentials in January 2017 - my feel good fragrances!

Do you have any tips for someone wanting to start a brand?

Believe in yourself, work hard. Persistence and resilience are important. Also, surround yourself with the right team of people.

How do you decide what products go into the brand?

A mixture of gut instinct and listening to the market.

A lot of your products contain essential oils, can you briefly explain the effects of essential oils?

I have always loved my designer fragrances but after learning about essential oils I learnt how great they can be.

Research is ongoing, but Essentials oils used in aromatherapy have dual or more purposes to help ailments and help with overcoming human problems and also offer a variety of wonderful scents

And best of all they are natural.

You have just launched the I have Calm Hand and Face Cream, can you tell us about it?

Always wanting to develop my products for both men and woman to help both feel good and smell good, I decided I wanted my products to be unisex. Since then launching the fragrances I had men say to me I should launch a men’s face cream.

With that in mind, people are wanting to look after their skin and also knowing that in today’s world everyone is so busy, time is of the essence, convenience came into play.

I decided to develop a Face & Hand cream that would help the skin relax, look and feel younger that absorbed easily into the skin and was also non-greasy. Lastly, I wanted to offer convenience, hence offering a combined hand & face cream.

Can you give my readers any hints on any new launches?

I have quite a few ideas of new products I want to develop so stay tuned...
